Enterprise Drupal CMS & Drupal Workflow Case Study


The Challenge

The Insurance Australia product websites for brands NRMA, SGIO and SGIC were required to be migrated from an internally hosted legacy platform of Interwoven Teamsite due to slow, rigid and expensive maintenance change management and other related issues such as poor performance and SEO.

The Solution

Technocrat implemented a new fast and lightweight Drupal platform for IAG to host their multiple state brands via one content administration system with an enterprise Drupal workflow system (FLOWER). Drupal workflows are stereotypically understood as a non-technical editor publishing only a single piece of content at one time, such as a news article.

Configuration changes would be stored in code and managed by experienced programmers when change is required. IAG’s requirements for this project will see a more configured approach to workflow (with a small amount of custom code for a purpose built management UI) empowering the system to allow non-technical editors (IAG web site Content Officers) to:

  • make both content and configuration changes
  • push it through workflow as though it were all content
  • push multiple changes through as one grouped workflow job


The Result

Through the implementation of the new Drupal platform with enterprise workflow IAG were able to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Shift to a cost effective platform that was easier to support
  • Provide a rapid response to changing business conditions through a fast, lightweight enterprise workflow system that the business could own and operate without technical dependence
  • Shift content management to the teams that own the content
  • Improve the customer experience
  • Optimise site performance & search engine results.
