The Challenge

As the first iteration of the Melbourne Bike Share website, a collaboration in-between RACV, the City of Melbourne, and the Department of Transport, Technocrat was faced with the challenge to design and develop a digital presence capable of delivering real time bike availability, interactive maps, online payments, and a secure member portal complete with bike usage and payment history.

Enterprise Drupal CMS & 8D Data Feed  Integration

Resorts

THE BACKGROUND

RACV Resorts provide members with a wide variety of accommodation in both Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania.. As the previous website did not provide intuitive online booking functionality, Technocrat proposed a new dedicated website that introduced sweeping visuals of the resorts, essential information, and a strong call to action for visitors to place a booking. The site was designed with an innovative mega menu, a distinct holiday look and feel, and a dynamic booking system integration, allowing uses to find the information they needed and book their holiday in the next moment. As a result of the upgrade, significant increases in bookings were recorded by RACV.

THE CHALLENGE

As one of the pinnacle offerings to its’ members, Technocrat was faced with the challenge of providing IA & UX expertise to a number of stakeholders, both internally at RACV, and externally to other digital agencies, during the redevelopment of the RACV Resorts website.  The previous website presented a challenge in this respect, because it is structured to contain small images and large amounts of text. However consumers comparing travel/destination options online typically seek a highly visual, motivating, functional and compelling design to stimulate engagement and convert interest to online bookings. The website had to be intuitive enough for all age groups to easily find information on the resorts facilities, events and booking availability, as well as provide a streamlined online booking experience.

IA & UX Consulting and Strategy

THE SOLUTION

By placing the resort offerings, facilities, and online booking capabilities in the browsers load view, Technocrat directed the design on to a user centric path, suitable to to the vast variety of visitors to the RACV Resorts website.

THE RESULTS

Through the implementation of Technocrats’ recommended IA and UX strategy, RACV were able to achieve the following outcomes:
  • An easy to navigate site structure
  • Intuitive booking process
  • An information architecture that optimised search engine results

The portal had to be intuitive for members and provide easy to access sections where the member could update their details, pay member fees, and lodge requests relevant to the various segments within RACV.
