Flight Centre Ltd is one of the world’s largest travel groups and consists of many brands, including Student Flights, Quickbeds, Escape Travel and Cruiseabout. With Australian-based operations, it is the largest travel retailer in the country.
Technocrat was called on site at the early Drupal 7 adoption stage to provide Flight Centre’s internal teams with co-development, knowledge transfer and advanced architectural consulting for complex and high traffic sites.
Lead Drupal development and content editing direction including migration of the existing big data from legacy system and integration with various Flight Centre services. This required an understanding of a complex technical landscape and working with/integrating a product database of over 250,000 products.
The local development environment needed to be tightly integrated with Acquia Managed Cloud hosting solution. With Flight Centre’s early adoption of Drupal 7, Technocrat needed to provide Drupal training.
Technocrat was called on site at the early Drupal 7 adoption stage to provide:
- Infrastructure set-up: local development environment tightly integrated with Acquia Managed Cloud hosting solution
- Lead Drupal development and content editing direction including migration of the existing big data from legacy system and integration with various Flight Centre services.
Technocrat was able to have a senior consultant on site to liaise with senior stakeholders to understand the Flight Centre culture, constraints and technology and work within all of those aspects to form a technical solution architecture that fit within all requirements.
During the period of 12 months on-site, Technocrat lead the team to set-up the initial infrastructure for the following websites:

Technocrat’s services to Flight Centre are primarily Drupal development, and platform-orientated, architecture consulting. We have also co-developed with their internal team the Student Flights mobile website
Technocrat also conducted research and helped to develop the initial stage of single source of truth platform to consolidate various international Flight Centre websites (New Zealand, South Africa, US)
