Visit Werribee

Wyndham City Council needed an engaging digital presence to promote tourism in the Werribee region.

Technocrat won a competitive tender with Wyndham City Council to design and develop a new destination tourism website for the local Werribee region. The site they envisioned was highly functional on mobile and optimised so that potential users could easily find it through search engines.

Visual and video content that would provide a rich user experience was a priority – to inspire potential domestic, interstate and international visitors to learn more about local attractions, to plan their journey and to drive new and repeat visitors to the region.

Wyndham City Council also needed ongoing managed hosting and developer support for the Visit Werribee and Surrounds website.

Challenges

A key objective of the website was to facilitate increased visitation, including overnight stays, while also building a distinct brand for Visit Werribee that was separate from Wyndham City Council. The site design had to encourage multi-attraction visits through clever navigation and linking between content and search recommendations. The site had to make it easy for visitors to find information and plan their trip, and support higher SEO ranking and organic search results for the Visit Werribee brand.

We also were tasked with integrating the site with the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse, which provides a centralised database of listings including restaurants, hotels, sightseeing destinations and other attractions.

Results

  • Visitors are now easily able to find information on the Werribee region on a distinct website that separates the brand from Wyndham City Council.
  • The design is visually appealing with stunning photography and video content to inspire tourists to book accommodation, have a meal, attend an event or explore other hidden gems in the area.
  • Extensive short form video, photography and written content allows for easy sharing on social media.
  • All of the attraction listings on the site are pulled from ATDW, providing decentralised management of this critical content, offloading the maintenance task and reducing the administration.
